About Nickel West

Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2,500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. We also have plans to expand our operations with new mines in the northern Goldfields and a large nickel sulphate plant in Kwinana.

The mining operations are located approximately 400km north of Kalgoorlie at Leinster and Mt Keith. Leinster has both underground and small open pit operations, with the underground running block cave, sub level cave and long hole open stopping operations. Mt Keith is both underground and large open pits with the open pit being circa 100-150Mtpa material movement.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Underground Mining Professional to join the Nickel West team in the capacity of Manager – Mining Cliffs.

Reporting to the General Manager, Northern Operations Mining, this is an exciting opportunity for a high performing individual to make a significant contribution to Nickel West’s future operations. This role offers a chance to be part of a dynamic team, collaborating on exciting projects in challenging and rewarding environment. You will also be a pivotal member of the Site Leadership team to ensure alignment to Nickel West Strategic priorities and play an important role in shaping the culture and future of the site.

Key to your success will be your ability to manage, prioritise and execute operational excellence in line with BHP’s Charter Values, meet the requirements of statutory obligations whilst maintaining an overriding commitment to Health, Safety & Environment, and productivity improvements.

About You

An experienced professional with a passion for guiding, developing and coaching teams, you will bring demonstrated success in a similar role with a strong focus on delivering safe, productive and sustainable operational outcomes.

Performance and achievement orientated, you work well under pressure, bringing a high attention to detail and the consistent ability to meet deadlines. Your technical strengths will be complimented by excellent engagement and communication skills. Proactive, credible and influential, you relate well with people, communicating confidently and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

In addition, the following skills and experience is required:

  • Results-orientated, works well under pressure and an ability to meet multiple competing deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide your team effectively.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations
  • A genuine passion and drive to create an inclusive workplace which is free from harassment, discrimination and victimisation.

Location

Nickel West is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.
