We are looking for a Manager Mining – Hope Downs 4, to join our Greater Hope Downs Operations leadership team and lead our mine operations to success.

As an experienced operational and/or technical leader, this is a great opportunity to diversify your experience or welcome a change in scenery. Reporting to the General Manager and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:

  • Ensuring the mine achieves a standard of excellence in health and safety operations and compliance by leading and implementing health and safety policies and strategies
  • Managing mine production functions to ensure budgeted production targets are achieved in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner
  • Ensuring the mine meets the operating budget requirements in the areas of quantity, quality, and cost of production
  • Actively involved in the development of the mine budget and annual plan
  • Working in close cooperation with peers and other team members
  • Evaluating and implementing best practice mining practices
  • Establishing a people-centric culture with a focus on safety, wellbeing, engagement and continuous improvement
  • In addition to the above, you'll build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across our operational teams and functional support teams.

What you’ll bring

  • The ability to confidently manage large scale mining operations or projects
  • Open cut mining operations experience
  • Authentic leadership and genuine care

Exposure to iron ore operations is not essential, and we would be interested in hearing from individuals with leadership experience gained across other commodities.

Where you’ll be working

Located 50km, north-west of Newman, Hope Downs 4 is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto. Greater Hope Downs provides exceptional career growth and opportunities and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers. 

This role is offered on a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) roster; 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off. This allows the flexibility for shared site coverage on weekends and the opportunity for you to extend your days off periodically.
