About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager - Jimblebar, this role is to provide leadership and direction to the Mining Production team. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of key stakeholders across the BHP business will be Integral to success in this role and we are looking for an experienced and compassionate people leader who thrives on building capability of teams all the way to the frontline.

With the largest truck fleet and material movement in the current BHP Iron Ore portfolio, and automation already heavily integrated across the operation, the successful candidate will be expected to motivate, guide and empower the Mining Production team to maximise safe and consistent productivity performance.

This role is based at our Jimblebar mine site on a 5/2, 4/3, 9/5 FIFO roster or residential basis from Newman.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced people leader with a background that demonstrates the ability to motivate, inspire and improve production / execution / manufacturing / output-based teams or facilities.

You are extremely output focused with a demonstrated track record in mentoring and coaching others to achieve outstanding results. You possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective business partnerships.

As the successful candidate, you will ideally possess the following:

  • a genuine desire to nurture positive relationships through effective communication and open consultation.
  • capability as an agile thinker with the ability to collaborate with others to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
  • experience implementing continuous improvement strategies with a focus on safety, culture, productivity, and cost outcomes.
  • a genuine passion and drive to create an inclusive workplace which is free from harassment, discrimination, and disrespectful behaviours.
  • a demonstrated experienced in a similar role at manager level will be highly regarded
  • a degree qualified in a related discipline is preferable however not essential

Location

You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out roster from Perth. Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine approximately 40km east of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Jimblebar was BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet, which makes the site a safe, productive operation with opportunities for our people to gain new skills.

Our team at Jimblebar take pride in being part of an inclusive and high performing operation. Each year, the Jimblebar mine produces up to 70M tonnes of high grade product, and in FY2021, Jimblebar achieved record production!

The outstanding facilities at the modern FIFO village of Warrawandu include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet, ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator, and air-conditioning.  Jimblebar also offers a regional flight to and from Busselton for its FIFO team members.
