About the role
We are looking for a visionary and forward-thinking Network Strategy and Architecture Manager who will lead a team to develop the long-term strategy for our Network Platforms, including the architecture and roadmaps to support. This is not your ordinary managerial position – it is a thrilling opportunity for a proven leader like you to revolutionise our network tactical plans into the strategy that meets our digital ambition and guide our organisation towards unprecedented success.
As the driving force behind developing strategies and roadmaps, you will play a pivotal role in bringing the view of today and these supporting facts and use this information to support Rio Tinto with the strategic operational requirements for our future state organisation. It is an exciting role that will drive service optimisation through a leading technical strategy that transforms how we work with our partners, vendors, and our key stakeholders.
Reporting to the Network Platforms Lead and working in a collaborative community within our Network Platforms division, you will:
- Develop the Network Platforms long-term strategy including associated architecture; standards; roadmaps and design patterns.
- Drive service optimisation and continuous service quality improvement within Rio Tinto through strategy and governance for partner, vendor, and third-party service deliveries and validation of infrastructure changes.
- Drive and influence our key stakeholders in relation to the Network Platforms strategy and gain endorsement for deliverables in the roadmap.
- Build and maintain a strong team of highly skilled technical solution architects across various network domains. Develop the skills and capabilities of the team and use strong leadership skills to enthuse and motivate.
- Lead a small team for capability development; day to day objectives and task responsibilities including people management responsibilities. Set the quality, performance, and capability targets in line with organisational goals.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to safety and wellbeing of the team and ability to foster a collaborative and motivated work environment
- A wealth of hands-on experience in technical/IT roles (particularly within the Network domain), accompanied by hands-on experience in formulating Network Strategies & Architectures
- Proven track record of successfully developing and delivering strategies & roadmaps, all while leveraging Network architecture and staying abreast of emerging trends and practices
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology strategies with business goals and objectives
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with demonstrated experience building and leading highly performing teams, providing vision, direction, and regular communication to team members
- Superior stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, motivate and solve various issues as they arise.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes and system engineering
- Knowledge of Security, Process Control Networks, Enterprise Networking, LTE and other Network domains
