Manager, Operations Planning
Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.
Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex Perth (with rotational 8D/6R weekend coverage)
Responsible for providing effective leadership and management of the mine planning, geology, geotechnical and survey processes for Fortescue's Christmas Creek operation. This role is critical in supporting Christmas Creek to safely achieve its production, quality and cost targets that align with overall business requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring strategies to achieve Fortescue’s objectives are successfully implemented
- Providing robust technical solutions that deliver efficiency improvements and cost reduction goals and critical risk treatment in the short and medium term mine plans
- Establishing effective working relationships with key stakeholders at Christmas Creek and across Fortescue
- Drive improvement and standardisation of processes, systems, and data in partnership with key stakeholders
- Manage the Mine Analytics Lab to ensure safe and effective operations
- Leading and developing strong and capable teams in engineering, mine planning, geology, geotechnical and survey disciplines to deliver an effective technical service to the Christmas Creek operations
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mine Engineering (or equivalent)
- Ideally, 10+ years' experience in the mining industry, with a majority in Iron Ore Operations
- Deep understanding and sound knowledge of orebody economics and its linkage to costs
- Capability to run mine scheduling software to produce monthly and quarterly plans, and provide mentorship and guidance to a strong technical team
- Exceptional Project Management experience and demonstrated strong leadership capabilities
