Narrabri Coal Operations has recently received approval for Stage 3 Mine expansion project, extending mine life to 2044. The project included production expansion through significant capital expansion including new surface infrastructure and a second longwall to allow “walk on, walk off” capacity.
About The Role
We are seeking a talented Operations Manager to join our team at the Narrabri underground mine. The key focus will be overseeing safe underground mining operations, ensuring compliance with WH&S systems and legislation, and providing leadership for mine standards. Drive planning, implementation, control, and review of operations to meet budget goals.
What You’ll Do
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership in the workplace through leading by example, fostering OH&S awareness among staff, managing risk, and promoting continuous improvements in the area of safety while working towards the company goal of “zero harm”.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Narrabri mine site by effectively utilising and developing the resources necessary to meet operations and cost targets.
- Lead and develop the mine operational team to optimise their performance, ensuring continued achievement of production and cost targets.
- Prepare and submit accurate production reports, cost reports and summaries on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
- Develop forecasts and budgets for work to be completed, and monitor mine performance against budget.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related disciplines
- NSW Practicing Certificate for Mining Engineering manager for Underground coal mine
- Extensive experience in underground coal mining
- Experience in managerial roles within Underground operations including operations management or process superintendents
- Experience in driving and implementing continuous improvement in the workplace
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant State Legislation
