ABOUT PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent, full-time position, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will preferably be based at our head office in Perth

The Manager, Payroll Governance is responsible for maintaining, governing and ensuring up to date, relevant and timely management of payroll related compliance obligations in alignment with company strategic objectives.

Reporting to Group Manager HR Strategy, Performance & Culture, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Oversee the South32 Global Payroll Framework, procedures, and statutory obligations register, while establishing and managing the HR function's global payroll compliance, remediation plan, and alignment with company strategic objectives and relevant legislation.
  • Act as the risk owner for the payroll and statutory obligations material risk, designing and maintaining critical compliance tools, statutory obligations register, and ensuring external regulatory compliance.
  • Approve year-end reporting/lodgements, system configuration changes, and management of controlled documents and SharePoint structure.
  • Oversee and manage global payroll service agreements, including the GBS Partnership Agreement, monthly performance meetings, serving as the relationship authorization manager for the Australian Taxation Office and act as the key contact and contract owner for third-party support, remediation projects, and vendor contracts

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Comprehensive understanding of global employer and statutory obligations and legislative requirements
  • Proficiency in SAP ECC and SuccessFactors platforms
  • Seasoned HR professional with extensive leadership experience across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Capability to design and execute documentation and payroll governance structures at all levels
  • Experience designing governance frameworks and control mechanisms while navigating risk landscapes.
  • Ability in fostering collaborative partnerships and exerting positive influence
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying errors, inconsistencies, or discrepancies.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business or related field or proven relevant work history.
