Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.

About the Role

As a Manager Project Controls & Analysis, your purpose is to lead a team focused on the provision of project cost estimating, cost analysis/control, and planning & scheduling to influence the on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives.

The PC&A team supports the investment lifecycle across our Olympic Dam Asset Projects team, informing project and portfolio strategy, decisions and reporting. Key areas of focus are managing relationships with stakeholders, translating strategy into operational plans for the Project Controls & Analysis department, coaching Project Controls & Analysis leaders, supporting the corporate budget and capital planning cycle, input to the investment approval requests, and contribute to the ODAP Leadership team.

This role is also required to nurture a culture of care across project teams. Critical to this, will be empowering employees with the skills and capabilities required to deliver against the defined service offering, providing leaders with the tools to manage teams and effectively lead through chance.

Provides leadership to a team or teams focussed on the provision of project services (e.g. scope, estimated/actual cost, planning and scheduling, budgets, changes, progress and forecasting) to influence the on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives. Translates strategy into operational plans for the department.

Reporting to the Program Director PC&A, your accountabilities will include:  

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Our Requirements, and relevant standards and procedures.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Establishes and/or oversees the implementation of Project Controls & Analysis strategies, plans, controls, processes, methodologies and systems.
  • Provides leadership and operational management of the Project Controls & Analysis team.
  • Ensure effective leadership and technical expertise within the Project Controls & Analysis team.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors leaders to ensure delivery against performance targets and builds the talent pipeline for key positions.
  • Leads in the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives, including programmatic opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Assures quality, consistency and compliance of Project Controls & Analysis deliverables.
  • Collaborate on delivering business planning and governance requirements.
  • Collaborates with other functional managers to ensure alignment of functional standards and plans
