About the role

We are looking for an experienced project delivery professional to join the Iron Ore Sustaining Capital team as Manager Project Delivery to lead the safe and successful delivery of a large and multi-disciplinary portfolio of capital projects across our Iron ore Pilbara Mines.
Interfacing with a broad range of stakeholders, including Operational General Managers, Mine Managers, Studies and Technical teams this role is integral to delivering a plan based on short- and long-term business requirements. Your role will enable your team to translate targets into actions with a focus on the key performance drivers and critical controls. You’ll also be encouraged to proactively seek improvement opportunities and initiate innovative solutions that lead to improved business performance within the Iron Ore Sustaining Capital team.
Reporting to the General Manager Sustaining Capital, you will:
- Lead a team of project professionals responsible for achieving successful safety, quality, cost and schedule outcomes across a portfolio of projects including structural integrity works, non-process infrastructure, bulk earthworks and civil and water management projects
- Deliver strong safety performance, ensuring full implementation of the Rio Tinto Iron Ore HSEC systems and processes
- Foster a high performance culture amongst your team and across a large and diverse contractor workforce
- Manage contracting partner relationships and delivery of contract obligations including performance against contract deliverables.
- Build and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, accountability, participation, and improvement.
- Influence studies throughout all phases to ensure predicable and successful implementation outcomes
- Continuously drive capital efficiencies through improvement and innovation,
- Support a portfolio view and project prioritisation process, to allow for effective program management of works
- Monitor project performance and compliance with project systems, processes and procedures, and manage effective issue resolution.
- Ensure effective reporting of all projects to enable stakeholders, sponsors and senior leaders to make appropriate decisions
What you’ll bring
- A strong commitment to safety and environmental performance
- Demonstrated Capital Project Management and Commerce skills with extensive project management experience, preferably in construction projects, sustaining capital projects, and/or mining operations
- Significant leadership experience and a proven track record of success in building high performance project delivery teams
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead teams working in remote sites
- Tertiary qualification or relevant technical experience in Engineering and/or Project Management will be seen as advantageous

Where you’ll be working
You and your team will be Perth-based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. There will be the requirement for frequent Pilbara site travel to engage with relevant stakeholders.
