About the role
As Manager Project Delivery - Functional Delivery, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving business‑facing delivery across Rio Tinto’s Modern ERP (SAP S/4HANA) transformation.
This role is designed for an experienced Project Manager leader who can confidently take charge of complex delivery at scale. You’ll provide strategic oversight across multiple functional workstreams, ensuring plans, dependencies and risks are actively managed while keeping delivery on track through the S/4HANA uplift.
You’ll lead and coach a team of Project Managers responsible for functional and process‑led delivery, setting clear direction and standards while maintaining strong visibility across scope, schedule, cost and quality. Ensuring solutions are not only delivered on time, but are genuinely ready for real‑world business use.
What you’ll be doing
Lead and coach a team of Project Managers delivering functional ERP workstreams across the SAP S/4HANA program
Own end‑to‑end project delivery planning, including schedules, resourcing, dependencies and integrated delivery views
Maintain strong oversight of delivery risks and issues, actively resolving cross‑stream dependencies to keep momentum
Ensure business processes and teams are fully ready for testing, adoption and successful go‑live
Partner closely with GPOs, functional SMEs and business stakeholders to align delivery priorities with business outcomes
Drive delivery performance across scope, cost, time and quality, using clear governance and reporting
Manage Systems Integrator performance within a commercial delivery model to ensure commitments are met
Provide strong day‑to‑day leadership by setting direction, prioritising work, coaching the team, and removing blockers
What you’ll bring
Proven program and project delivery experience in complex environments
Direct experience delivering an ERP transformation or major upgrade
SAP experience, ideally SAP S/4HANA (highly desirable)
Strong leadership capability with experience leading delivery teams
Confidence working with senior business stakeholders and delivery partners
Ability to translate business needs into executable delivery plans
Strong risk management, prioritisation, and decision‑making skills
Experience working with Systems Integrators or third‑party vendors
SAP experience, ideally SAP S/4HANA (highly desirable)
