Rio Tinto has recently launched a dedicated team to deliver large renewable energy solutions across our major jurisdictions. Rio Tinto Energy Development is focusing on accelerating the development of future energy assets and securing high quality renewable energy development optionality. The team's focus on the provision of green energy will enable the decarbonisation of the company’s existing industrial operations and support Rio Tinto’s future growth.About the roleRTED has been established to support and accelerate the delivery of the Rio Tinto strategy. RTED will drive project delivery, with multiple renewable energy workstreams moving at pace. To advance Rio Tinto’s decarbonisation agenda, RTED will work closely with existing teams across our Product Groups and supporting functions to accelerate the delivery of renewables into the energy supply mix. To achieve this objective and to maintain future growth optionality, we are looking to appoint at Manager Projects to join the team.
The Project Manager will be Perth based with adhoc travel to the Pilbara. This role will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing scope, objectives and delivery strategy for a portfolio of function specific or cross functional projects and associated teams.
In additional this role will provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction Project Management leadership on utility scale renewable energy projects. It will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Oversees the planning and delivery of projects from initiation to completion, and focused on achieving business, Study and/or project objectives through managing contracts, resources, budgets, changes, and risks.
- Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract management
- Leading project Health, Safety and Environment and Heritage compliance
- Leadership and Management of a multidisciplinary project team
- Management of subcontractors performance and compliance to contract and requirements
- Stakeholder management with Utilities, RTIO and other relevant departments
- Interface management with subcontractors, operational mining sites and with associated projects(transmission or infrastructure upgrades)
- Preparation and presentation of project reporting on a weekly and monthly basis
- Coordinate with discipline engineers. Electrical, Power, Control, Civil across respective scopes and engineering interfaces
- Develop commissioning plans in conjunction with the commissioning manager, discipline engineers and respective contractors to facilitate asset integration
- Facilitate design review workshops inclusive of multiple stakeholders
- Facilitate engineering risk workshops - HSEC, HAZID, HAZOP and CHAZOP
- Ensure project controls and assurance are instituted and followed
- Responsible for the implementation of health, safety, and quality assurance programmes in line with company policies and procedures
About you
- Proven track record of large EPC project delivery and execution
- Experience withmanaging projects for Rio Tinto is essential
- Performance Management – Setting realistic plans, managing change, and forecasting / reporting most-likely outcomes
- Continuous Improvement – Finding new ways to innovate to improve results, and sustain a positive working environment for all
- Relevant tertiary education (preferably in engineering)
- Project management qualification PMBOK or equivalent
- Experience in managing utility Scale Renewable EPC Projects would be beneficial
- Experience with renewable energy project development and integration of wind farms, solar farms and battery storage assets would be beneficial
- Sound Knowledge of engineering principles and processes related to major projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent Financial Acumen
