About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Reward Strategy, Design and Governance, the Manager Reward Governance will shape and govern global reward policy frameworks (including pay transparency), ensuring Reward pay compliance.

This role will ensure compliance, relevance, and alignment with BHP’s reward philosophy through strategic policy development and stakeholder engagement. It also has primary accountability of Reward governance, policy and pay compliance.

Core accountabilities:

  • Regulatory Requirements: Monitor Legal Pay and Regulatory Requirements by tracking all evolving Reward related and pay transparency laws globally (e.g., EU Pay Transparency Directive, U.S. state laws), and working with key internal and external partners who will help define our compliance requirements.
  • Policy Development & Governance: Develop complex/high-impact reward policies ensuring frameworks reflect global principles and local compliance needs.
  • Pay Transparency Strategy & Implementation Planning: Drive pay transparency framework and global principles. Plan and scope initiatives using agile sprints, partnering with internal and/or external stakeholders for execution readiness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Coaching: Influence senior HR leaders and business stakeholders. Coach Specialists when accessing policy and recognition frameworks and ensure alignment and adoption.
  • Strategic Change Management & Compliance Oversight: Support strategic change management for policy updates. Monitor compliance risks and act as escalation point for complex recognition and policy issues.

About You

  • Deep understanding of global reward frameworks, policy development, and governance principles, including compliance and risk management.
  • Expertise in designing and embedding recognition programs that drive engagement and align with organizational culture and performance objectives.
  • Strong capability in leading strategic change initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, and coaching HR teams to adopt new policies and practices.
  • Ability to interpret reward and recognition data to inform policy decisions.
