We are looking for a Manager Safety & Emergency Services to join a collaborative leadership team to provide centralised, discipline-centric strategic support and oversight to enable the operational delivery teams to implement safety and emergency services initiatives outlined in the five-year HSEC strategy and assets plan.

You will provide subject matter expertise and support to improve performance and achieve compliance with Rio Tinto standards and regulatory requirements whilst improving control effectively across HSEC safety and emergency service risks.

Reporting to the Senior Manager HSEC Technical, you will:

  • Deliver risk reduction and improvement initiatives linked to the five year HSEC plan
  • Lead a team of technical professionals whilst supporting assets to adapt plans to prioritise and address resource and operational challenges
  • Provide governance oversight for all site for emergency services across all assets
  • Be the central point of contact for DMIRS
  • Contribute to the development of the Safety and Health policy and strategy for HSEC and ensure the acceptance and implementation thereof
  • Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions, timely reporting of performance against plans to Rio Tinto corporate and regulatory requirements
