At Rio Tinto, we are seeking a technically savvy and people-first leader to manage a software engineering team building integrations across Rio Tinto’s mining extract domain.As Manager Software Engineering Integrations, you will guide a cross-functional team to develop secure, scalable and value-driven integrations across Rio Tinto’s internal and external systems. This role is ideal for an experienced architect or engineering lead with a strong background cloud-native platforms and a deep understanding of mining or heavy industry operations.You'll leverage your proven experience in system architecture, agile delivery, and stakeholder collaboration to drive real business impact across a globally recognised mining operation.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable integration solutions across mining extraction systems.

• Define and evolve product and platform strategies aligned with business goals and enterprise architecture.

• Inspire and mentor a small agile development team, fostering continuous learning and engineering excellence.

• Provide operational leadership, allocate tasks, and support team development through coaching and performance management.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver rapid, fit-for-purpose solutions.

• Champion data interoperability using APIs, event streams, and cloud-native architectures.

• Embed DevSecOps and agile methodologies to ensure secure, stable, and high-performing solutions.

• Support strategic planning through insights, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll bring

• Experience as a technical leader or architect, ideally in mining, energy or heavy industry, with a track record of delivering complex software integrations.

• A strategic vision for leading our products towards a scalable, modern state.

• Strong hands-on background in Python, .NET development, Azure/AWS services and full-stack solutions.

• Experience working with geospatial and data-rich environments (e.g., integrating with GIS or ore-modelling systems).

• Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, manage vendor relationships, and drive collaborative delivery across business units.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a user-centered mindset.

• A passion for agile delivery, rapid prototyping, and iterative improvement cycles.
