About the role:

We are looking for an IT Manager – Design and Engineering to lead the teams that deliver solution architecture, system design, technical solutions and business analysis expertise into the project teams for IT projects in the APAC East region (focusing on software and IT Infrastructure – networks, servers & storage, could infrastructure). These teams are part of our Rio Tinto IS&T Program Management Office that deliver IT projects into various corporate functions within the business.

As one of the Managers in the IS&T Program Management Office, you will inspire your teams to bring their best selves to the workplace every day through your collaboration, teamwork, leadership and support of your team. You will source, attract and reward the best IT talent that brings IT solutions that enable and improve operational productivity within our mining operations.

Reporting to the Manager, PMO & Delivery APAC East and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our APAC East PMO team, you will:

  • Build and sustain a team culture of care, curiosity, courage, phycological safety, accountability and an ownership mindset, excellence, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement through leading by example every day
  • Build, lead and inspire a team of experts in the disciplines of IT solution architecture, engineering and business analysis that enable Rio Tinto’s digital transformation, safety and productivity goals.
  • Collaborate with Project delivery teammates to scale your team to meet the current and future project needs.
  • Source, recruit and retain a highly motivated team that deliver excellence through bringing out the best in each other and with other stakeholders.
  • Establish team practices that ensure your teams keep up to date on technology developments, Rio Tinto design standards & reference architectures and integrate these changes into your teams solution design & delivery.
  • Foster continuous improvement within your teams that delivers improved efficiency and effectiveness, always looking for better ways to operate.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with global-peers leading IT Design & Engineering teams in Rio Tinto in other regions, learning and sharing to deliver continuous improvement in service delivery.

What you’ll bring:

  • A commitment to the safety (physical and psychological) of yourself and your team
  • A number of years leading, supporting and developing multi-disciplined, technical teams in a technology environment (Software, Networks, Servers & Storage, Cloud)
  • IT Technical domain experience, ideally coming from an IT technical solution architecture background.
  • A good understanding of IT project delivery, phases and outcomes.
  • A relevant degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or high levels of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for information and operational technology and the business outcomes the technology enables
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Positive outlook with a growth and ownership mindset
  • An understanding of governance and risk in relation to IT projects
