Join Rio Tinto as we embark on a bold, global tax technology transformation. As Tax Technology Transformation Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the technology vision for our global tax function. You will drive a future-focused technology roadmap across different Finance and Operational systems, leveraging advanced data platforms (data warehouse and tax engine) and supporting the transition to S/4 HANA.

This is a high-impact, global role, leading tax technology transformation across Asia and Pacific; North and South America; and Europe. Collaborating with a diverse team of over 120 professionals. You will partner with internal and external experts in technology and tax, as well as Corporate Finance and business leaders to deliver innovative solutions to enable a world-class tax function.

Key aspects of the role include

  • Lead design and implementation of a future-ready tax technology roadmap, aligned with Rio Tinto’s Finance and IS&T strategy

  • Lead scoping and delivery of solutions across a multiple systems landscape, including S/4 HANA

  • Lead delivery of a new data and technology model for our tax function, developed in partnership with IS&T, ensuring global process harmonisation while managing regional complexities.

  • Lead collaboration between tax and IS&T to drive development and successful adoption of advanced data platforms, ELT software, and analytics solutions

  • Self-manage engagement with key stakeholders and product teams across the business and IS&T, to deliver the target state

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners and oversee detailed project records

  • Drive rapid change in key jurisdictions including Australia, Canada, UK and US, ensuring alignment and engagement at all levels

  • Lead change to ensure successful adoption and optimisation of new technology and processes 

About you

To be successful, you will have:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems; CA/CPA preferred

  • 8+ years’ experience in tax technology or transformation roles

  • Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of teams, from business leaders to delivery teams, driving product success.

  • Ability to execute against measurable objectives and deliver agreed results aligned to the broader business-technology portfolio and product roadmap

  • Strong knowledge of corporate tax processes and technology platforms (SAP, ONESOURCE, Tagetik)

  • Proven experience in Agile project delivery and stakeholder management

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Experience with data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud)

  • Experience with ELT tools (e.g., Alteryx / Datasphere)

  • Familiarity with AI/automation for tax compliance (e.g., LLM)

  • Ability to manage global process harmonisation and regional complexities
