Our Operation

About the Role

The Technical Services Manager leads a high performing team that provides broad-ranging subject matter expertise and strategies to support customer safety, stability, project return on investment, and improvement in risk profile over the medium/long term. The role reports into the General Manager Surface Planning & Development, and is a member of the Surface Leadership Team. You will lead 7 direct reports and a team of ~50 employees and contractors, and effectively engage with a diverse range of internal, external, regulatory and executive stakeholders.

This is an ideal secondment opportunity to continue your leadership development in a technical role in an operational environment.  This secondment can be offered as 5/2,4/3 FIFO from Adelaide to Olympic Dam or residential at Roxby Downs. Relocation can be supported.

In this role you will:

  • Focus on visible safety leadership and foster a high-performing, high-engagement Technical Services team culture
  • Drive programs of work that support Safety, Sustainability and Improvement at Olympic Dam
  • Be accountable for the delivery and strategy of the following teams: Process Safety; Fixed Plant Integrity; Water Production Support; Water Technical; Tailings Technical; and Project Integration (Refinery)
  • Continue to collaborate and business partner to enhance the technical knowledge and capability of the wider asset team
  • Own risk as it applies to Tailings Integrity, Fixed Plant Integrity and Supply of Water, ensuring excellence in material risk management processes
  • Provide trusted ownership/technical support for key regulatory and executive relationships, including delivery of the MHF Safety Case; Tailings Accountable Executive; and others
  • Lead Elements for the Integrated Management Systems Standards for Operational Risk; Safe Operation of Plant & Equipment; Operational Readiness & Process Start-up

About You

  • Demonstrated leadership in Safety and Our Values, and holding others accountable to these
  • Tertiary qualified Engineer with experience in Risk Management preferred
  • Experience working simultaneously across multiple fronts and leading cross-discipline teams
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with a focus on simplifying complex technical concepts, and effectively tailoring messaging to operational, technical or executive audiences
  • Strong front-line customer focus to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Ability to identify, navigate, and influence operations and functions stakeholders across a large, global matrixed organization. Seasoned in interactions with external stakeholders
  • Desire to coach and mentor team members
  • Established financial management and continuous improvement capabilities
  • Proven judgement and decision-making skills and an appreciation of business objectives
