About the role

We are looking for a Manager Transfer Pricing to provide high-quality transfer pricing advisory support across Rio Tinto’s global operations.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced transfer pricing professional with strong commercial acumen and who enjoys partnering with stakeholders across the business in multiple jurisdictions. You will work closely with regional tax teams, various internal and external stakeholders and the transfer pricing compliance team to deliver technically robust, commercially practical and governance-aligned outcomes.

Reporting to the General Manager Tax Global Advisory and working within Rio Tinto’s global transfer pricing advisory team, you will:

  • Provide transfer pricing advisory support across a diverse portfolio of cross-border arrangements, business initiatives and jurisdictions

  • Deliver practical and commercially grounded transfer pricing advice to product groups and broader business stakeholders

  • Lead and/or support Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs), Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAPs) and tax authority engagements

  • Monitor legislative and policy developments and translate impacts into practical business responses

  • Work closely with the transfer pricing compliance team and regional tax teams to support effective documentation, reporting and year-end processes

  • Identify and manage transfer pricing risks in line with Rio Tinto’s tax policy and governance frameworks

  • Build trusted relationships across Tax, Finance and operational stakeholders to influence decision-making and deliver governance aligned outcomes

About you

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Significant transfer pricing advisory experience gained within a professional services firm, multinational organisation, or both

  • Deep technical expertise in transfer pricing, including complex cross-border arrangements, strategic projects and business change

  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, practical recommendations

  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build trusted relationships across global and matrixed environments

  • A pragmatic and risk-based approach, balancing technical quality, governance, compliance and commercial outcomes

Where you’ll be working

You’ll be part of Rio Tinto’s Group Tax function, one of the most highly regarded in-house tax teams in the resources sector. Based in Brisbane or Perth, you will work within a globally connected transfer pricing advisory team, collaborating closely with colleagues across Australia, Singapore, Canada, London, Argentina and the United States, while partnering with the transfer pricing compliance team to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes across Rio Tinto’s global portfolio
