In this role, you will be accountable for safe, efficient and cost-effective operational leadership and management of our Telfer underground operation. As a member of the site leadership team, you will drive behaviours, standards and frameworks that align with our culture and values. Important to the role, is your technical and operational experience in guiding the underground team to deliver on the mine plan and to drive continuous improvement. Your ability to deliver through people is vital.
As our preferred candidate, you will possess a background in underground mining with a strong focus on a safety culture based on Newcrest’s NewSafe program. As a leader, you will drive our commitment to safety by being a visible safety leader as well as engaging, developing and coaching your team.
Important to the role, is your accountability for all underground mining operations including lateral development, sub-level cave, long hole open stoping, the implementation of paste fill and owning the mining contract and associated contractor management. You will support exploration and resource definition diamond drilling activities enabling reserve growth and future mine expansions.
You will provide input to the Telfer Life of Province Plan and own the underground budget. You will be accountable for the Material Risk Profile for the Telfer underground mining operation and be required to verify material risk critical controls are appropriately designed, deployed and effective.
As a successful candidate you will you have strong operational experience within underground operations (a degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent with a First-Class Managers Ticket will be highly regarded). You will have a sound understanding of contractor engagement and management with demonstrated technical and commercial acumen complimented by advanced problem-solving skills.
