We are looking for a Manager Water Resource Evaluation to lead our Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) team of extensive hydrology, hydrogeological, water quality and mineral waste experience within the Resource Development team, supporting technical water programs from sourcing to closure.
This is a great opportunity for a people-focused leader with a strong technical background, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to identify and communicate risk. You will positively lead and influence whilst working with a diverse stakeholder group across our iron ore business to deliver a plan which considers the entire life of our Tier 1 assets, from development, implementation, operation, and closure.

Reporting to the General Manager Resource Development and working in a diverse team within the Resource Development department, you will be:
- A genuine, strong leader for your team where you will encourage development for a multi-disciplinary group of professionals
- Accountable for providing technical water subject matter expertise, from early-stage, resource development, through production, to longer term closure planning
- The responsible owner of water and mineral waste management technical standards for RTIO
- Communicating with stakeholder groups both within and external to Rio Tinto Iron Ore, including General Manager level on a regular basis
- Actively supporting proactive engagement with Traditional Owners across the Pilbara.
- Improving water resource capability in Resource Development by establishing technical competency and capability frameworks
- Developing networks externally with industry peers and academia to ensure that RTIO is adopting leading technical practices
- Responsible for understanding and communicating the risk of water to our Operations and community, both now and for the future

The Manager Water Resource Evaluation role is an extremely important role within RTIO. Water management and the understanding of water in the Pilbara is critical for our Operations, Traditional Owner engagement and sustainability. The role requires you to be a technical expert, have a passion for continuous improvement, innovation, technical excellence and development of your team.
It is integral for you to hold a Tertiary Degree in hydrology, hydrogeology or a related discipline and have a strong foundation in all aspects of water resource evaluation.
Your extensive experience across different geographies and water-related disciplines is preferable, as well as a strong understanding of current mine water management best practices in data acquisition and interpretation.
