We are looking for a Manager for our Southern Operations at Amrun which is a world class asset, and the newest operation in the Rio Tinto Bauxite business. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong operational leader who has demonstrated performance with strategic and analytical exposure across multiple facets of the supply chain from mine to market. This a high profile role responsible for an integrated business which involves the safe execution of mining, processing and shiploading activities.

Reporting to the General Manager Bauxite Operations and working in a challenging and dynamic environment, you will be:
- Providing supportive and collaborative leadership to the Southern Operations (Amrun) team and broader Weipa site;
- Ensure that all aspects of the Amrun mine meet all health, safety and environmental regulatory, compliance and business values requirements;
- Work closely with peers and teams who provide strategic planning, execution direction and support through an integrated business model to Amrun operations;
- Providing representation of Weipa in customer and community relations and activities;
- Working closely with the broader Weipa leadership team to ensure services delivery across the portfolio;
What you will bring
- A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
- Tertiary qualifications preferably within a related field;
- Significant leadership experience within either a mining, plant or maintenance senior leadership role or similar challenging operational role;
- Ability to promote, mentor and drive a diverse way of thinking and ability to challenge the status quo;
- Strong analytical and system development skills;
- Demonstrated excellence in leading and developing complex teams;
- An understanding of the technical aspects involved, in mining and plant operations and maintenance;
- Experience using business improvement methodologies.

Where you will be working
Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.
Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 27% who are women and 25% Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.
The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
Weipa offers a coastal community rich in geographical beauty and cultural heritage that provides families with opportunities to participate in leisure activities, sports and community events. With a strong sense of community, the region has plenty of natural beauty to offer including the opportunities for boating, fishing, camping and off road exploring.
