Manufacturing Maintenance Lead
Work Location: Gladstone, QLD
Roster: Monday to Friday
Maintenance Lead is a critical role impacting strategic effectiveness by ensuring that they are across the business & operational strategy in order to ensure that manufacturing facility maintenance activities are planned and managed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, with a sound basis in asset management principles
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, Gladstone Electrolyser Facility, you will play a pivotal role in leading, planning and coaching a team of dynamic maintenance technicians, planning staff, reliability engineers and external contractors to achieve our manufacturing targets with least possible down time.
Implement and maintain an effective asset management practise and ensure that it is effectively employed by the businesses and contractors. Participate, contribute and continuously improve the system while ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with company policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Leading a maintenance team in support of all maintenance and sustenance activities
- Ensure maintenance budgets and costs are budgeted accurately, maintained and review at periodic intervals to prevent any unplanned over runs
- Review weekly plan of scheduled maintenance and modification works
- Ensuring a safe workplace is maintained and personnel are trained/competent
- Ensuring adherence to project plans and budgets are met
- Measure, manage and monitor the OEE for manufacturing process and equipment to reduce production stoppages and unplanned downtimes
- Ensure compliance with FFI safety standards and practices and conduct daily safety reviews
- Understands and executes the FFI’s Work Management Process (plan, schedule, execute, complete)
- Recommend and maintain critical inventory levels of spare parts and work order related inventories
- Ensure all Asset management / maintenance management plans, schedules, work orders etc. are maintained and updated in SAP system. Ensure up to date data and intelligence drive decision making / planning process
- Conduct and or assist in problem resolution, root cause analysis and prevention of re-occurrence
- Responsibility for planning (with help of planner) of day to day and scheduled + breakdown maintenance activities
- Planning and execution coverage to include 3 shifts and where needed weekend work scheduling to ensure optimal factory operations
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the plant remains reliable, with an ongoing focus on consistent improvement
- Plan and review activities performed by external contracting persons / companies
- Develop and implement a skill matrix for the team and improve the skills of the team to ensure that we meet the expectations
- Providing training and coaching to create a team that is sustainably staffed, developed and directed to support the activities within the business
- Leading a team, providing coaching, mentoring, feedback and opportunities
- Ensure contractor competence is maintained and reviewed
- Monitors and utilizes analytics of MES and or other data from all parts of the business to identify systemic risks, failures and non-conformances within the businesses. Ensures that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken, and solutions are managed to closure
- Ensure own staff and contracting staff / companies perform and execute work as per the requirements and are in compliance with all FFI’s policies and procedures
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, industrial, mechanical, electrical or relevant trade background
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in leading and managing maintenance teams and contractors to effectively execute plant and equipment maintenance
- Experience in creating and developing high-performance teams
- Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, preferably using SAP or other CMMS systems
- Budgeting and const control experience
- Strong understanding and capability in relation to positive safety culture, practical application of risk assessment, hazard identification/controls and incident management/reporting
- HR/IR exposure & understanding
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
