Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Work location: Gladstone, QLD

Roster: Monday to Friday

As a maintenance tech, you must be able to think on your feet, have a hands-on approach, willing to take on challenges and take great pride in your workmanship. Your focus on safety, quality and your ability to deliver quality service to the team is critical to the success of the operations. This role will require shift work and at times overtime if needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execute work in accordance with site safety and operating guidelines or procedures
  • Oversees execution of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities
  • Collaborate with the operations team to define maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities, and assists on ways to improve reliability, maintainability and safety of equipment and/or facilities
  • Responds to emergencies/breakdowns
  • Reports for records all recurring problems with machinery, equipment and parts that can be identified and addressed
  • Sets calibration, adjusts equipment, machinery and instruments so that they comply with production specifications and instructions
  • Hands on mechanical approach with tools for assembly
  • Maintain cleanliness standard to avoid contamination of parts and assemblies
  • Teamwork requiring good coordination and communication
  • Assist and coordinate with external maintenance contractors as needed to perform contracted duties
  • Use forklift or other material handling aids to safely execute tasks
  • For Mechanical trades – primary task is related mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • For Electrical trades – primary tasks includes electrical equipment and services maintenance, PLC and control instrumentation troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Solves major technical, equipment or facilities problems in order to achieve higher performance of the production lines
  • Maintains tools and repair equipment in good working order
  • Everyday housekeeping tasks such as keeping work area and facility clean and tidy
  • Ability to understand written instructions, drawings etc.
  • Capable and willing to provide mentoring and guidance to team members as required
  • Manages and updates technical documentation of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities
  • Execute activities in SAP and any other asset management applications

Qualifications and skills required:

  • A Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification or similar qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, performing maintenance activities
  • Good analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Experience with automated manufacturing lines / robotics desirable
  • Experience performing planned and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organised, efficient, good at multitasking, and driven to succeed
