Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer 

Work Location: Perth Airport 

Roster: Monday to Friday

FFI our presently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our fast paced and high performing team to design prototype equipment from concept through to fabrication and testing. This is a unique opportunity which does not normally present for Engineers as you will get to see your designs come to life.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Produce project intent and validation documentation in compliance with ISO9001 standards
  • Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using Inventor
  • Conduct FEA and CFD verification on your designs as required
  • Lead the design on multiple mechanical projects in line with the engineering specifications developed as part of an integrated engineering team
  • Manage and coordinate designs with the relevant engineering teams to support discrete projects from inception to prototyping and testing
  • Work cohesively with the design and engineering team to ensure designs are in line with requirements
  • Be SME for Project Engineers for any questions as required.
  • Management of drawings via Vault as well as tracking prototype costs via a detailed BOM liaising with materials and supply chain experts as required

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Engineering, Chemistry, Process or Mechanical or equivalent study
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer 
  • Experience in component design for discrete systems found in robotics, underwater ROVs, UAV’s, aerospace or in the automotive or mobility sectors
  • Inventor experience required
  • Experience with CAM software and prototyping an asset
  • Demonstrated experience using 3D design software for creating detailed designs in multi part assemblies as well as preparation of fabrication drawings
  • Self-motivator who can work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise effectively
  • An innovative but methodical thinker who is solution orientated
  • Willing to work from various locations within the Perth metro area as demands require
