Manufacturing Power Electronics Manager
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
With strong connection experience, this person will establish and lead the Power Electronics team in manufacturing from innovative design, development through to installation and commissioning of power electronic assets to meet the demands of the Fortescue business.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Review and validation of various Power Electronics engineering designs and associated components
- Providing technical assistance and design resolutions on Power Electrical / Electronics Systems related works being carried out
- Lead and coordinate all Power Electronics, driving electrolyser development for power systems
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Review / mark up engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes
- Provide guidance regarding project budget, cash flow and schedule for existing and future projects
- Acts as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues
- Implements Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and business compliance standards providing a safe working environment, and continuous improvement in HSE process and integrity performance.
- Leading a team, providing coaching, mentoring, feedback and opportunities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering qualifications, preferably in Power, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
- Project Management qualifications and/or an MBA would be highly desirable
- Minimum of 5 years' working as an Engineering Manager or Leader
- Experience in:
- operating DC/DC converters, inverters, high powered EV chargers and VSDs
- heavy mobile equipment or power electronics or traction systems engineering
- electrical design, development, and commissioning phases
- preparing detailed scope of works
- participating in the purchasing tender process, contractor engagement and contractor management process
- Well-developed leadership, coaching and facilitation skills with a passion for coaching and mentoring engineers
- Strategic planning and project management skills with an understanding of budget administration
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
