About the role: We are currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator at our coal handling and preparation plant, located 20 kilometres north west of Singleton, NSW producing thermal coal for export customers.
This position would suit a mechanical tradesperson, looking to gain tertiary qualifications in the engineering discipline, possessing experience in coal handling and processing equipment. Whilst primarily a maintenance function, our management structure provides for cross functional flexibility and experience including frontline supervision, project management, reliability engineering and continuous improvement supporting both CHPP and site services operations.
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Coordinator is responsible is to provide and maintain safe, fit for purpose and reliable equipment to meet statutory obligations and business operational requirements. As a service provider to the operations departments a key focus is managing how our customers see us through open communication, collaboration and consultation. These theoretical objectives are summarised as;
- Customer service – how do our customers see us?
- Internal business – what must we excel at?
- Innovation and Learning – How do we continue to improve and create value.
Duties will include:
- Execution of the maintenance strategy utilising the SAP work order system
- Planning and resourcing maintenance activities including purchasing functions.
- Use of reliability engineering methodologies such as root cause analysis and defect elimination for mechanical related delays.
- Supervision of and provision of information and instruction to maintenance personnel.
- Responsible for the mechanical reliability and performance of the plant.
- Upholding safety and statutory requirements set out in the mechanical engineering control plan.

About You:
- High level of mechanical aptitude required to understand and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Self-motivated with can do attitude to learn quickly and work autonomously.
- knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling principles and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems; SAP along with Microsoft office highly desirable
- Knowledge of conducting safety inspections and completing JSA’s, Risk Assessments and an uncompromising commitment to safety
