The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced Mechanical Coordinator to join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering & Maintenance, you will be responsible for coordinating the development and execution of planned mechanical maintenance and project activities across the operation. This is a key role focused on supporting asset reliability, driving maintenance excellence and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and project outcomes.

You will provide technical support across critical underground mechanical infrastructure including compressed air, bulk air cooling, dewatering systems and mobile equipment while supporting the ongoing development of Centurion's operations and future growth.

Your Impact

  • Coordinate and oversee the safe execution of planned mechanical maintenance and project activities.
  • Provide technical input into project scope development and implementation.
  • Support operational and capital budget development, forecasting and expenditure management.
  • Lead and manage contractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality and schedule requirements.
  • Apply sound maintenance principles to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Provide technical support for underground mechanical infrastructure including compressed air, cooling, dewatering and mobile equipment systems.
  • Participate in safety interactions, incident investigations and hazard management activities.
  • Monitor performance against plan and drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and project delivery.
  • Assist with SAP maintenance, purchasing and work management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and site requirements.

About You

You are a safety-focused maintenance professional with strong mechanical expertise, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for improving reliability, performance and operational outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Mechanical trade qualification or Engineering degree.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a coordination, supervisory or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of underground mining mechanical infrastructure including pumping, compressed air, bulk air cooling and mobile equipment systems.
  • Experience using SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrated project management and contractor supervision experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to analyse maintenance performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Sound understanding of maintenance planning and execution principles.
  • A proactive approach to safety, risk management and operational improvement.
