Fortescue has an exciting future ahead. As well as producing over 180 million tonnes of iron ore per year, we’re diversifying our business to become an integrated global green energy and resources company.

The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2023. Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Iron Bridge represents Fortescue’s latest operation culminating in a new OPF/CHF, new technologies and camp facilities.

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Being a technical leader in support of the Maintenance, Operations and Shutdown teams
  • Providing technical support for commissioning, plant upgrades, process improvements, repairs, and breakdowns
  • Identifying, managing, and delivering minor engineering projects to improve plant safety, reliability, and productivity
  • Becoming an area expert within the plant, providing guidance to other teams regarding maintenance and operation of equipment, leading risk assessments, and championing change management
  • Support equipment failure investigations using root cause analysis techniques, preventing reoccurrence by identifying and implementing remedial actions
  • Communicating and collaborating with key stakeholders for all relevant changes
  • Monitoring Asset Management KPI's, identify gaps in performance and recommending actions to resolve

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree, ideally with 5+ years’ experience within a fixed plant ore processing environment
  • Exposure to greenfields projects, or brownfields optimisation and improvement projects, with a sound understanding of mechanical design
  • Familiarity with common maintenance practices, and ideally experience supporting a maintenance and operations teams on a day-to-day basis
  • Knowledge of reliability concepts and activities such as root cause analysis, defect elimination, maintenance strategy improvement
  • Ability to manage contractors safely and effectively
  • Experience with SAP is advantageous
