  • Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi people.

8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or 4D/3R - FIFO ex Perth

This position is within Solomon OPF Engineering Department of our Ore Processing Plant Facility. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering support into process improvements, maintenance shutdowns, future upgrades, breakdowns investigation and maintenance strategies. The position is also responsible for end-to-end management of multiple engineering improvement projects, from concept, design to installation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of installation, operation and maintenance of materials handling equipment, particularly crushers, feeders, screens, conveyors, chutes, balanced machines, etc.
  • Support equipment failure investigations using root cause analysis techniques and implement remedial actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Champion engineering risk assessment and change management processes
  • Engage with key site and team stakeholders when facilitating all improvement works, clear communication & collaboration.
  • Being a safety leader and engage with personnel to drive a Zero Harm culture.
  • Monitoring Asset Management KPI's, identify gaps in performance and recommend actions to resolve.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with at least 3 years’ post-grad experience in Heavy industry experience preferably in Fixed Plant Ore Processing.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering design and application to Ore processing facilities.
  • Experience working on multiple Brownfield improvement projects.
  • A strong knowledge of Conveyors, Cone Crushers, Sizers & Screening machinery is highly desirable.
  • Experience in conducting RCA's, defect elimination & SAP knowledge.
  • Prior experience working within operational teams on site is essential, as well as previous experience managing design and fabrication contractors. Strong communication skills essential.
