Glencore Technology are currently seeking 2 (two) experienced Mechanical Engineers to join the Engineering team. It’s a rare opportunity to join a small team introducing industry-changing technology. The roles require good interpersonal skills to communicate technical and commercial issues with clients, with the passion and tenacity to make a difference in the industry. Overseas travel may be required.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Development of project scopes, specifications, plant designs, detailed layouts, procurement and commissioning plans
  • Developing project estimates and budgets
  • Ensuring designs are properly optimised and all proposal cost estimates and associated inputs are accurate and competitively priced while maintaining technical integrity
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for alternative solutions, design innovation and improvements
  • Dealings with various vendors, suppliers and fabricators to cover aspects of quality assurance and factory testing requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have :

  • Australian citizenship/residency
  • Tertiary qualification/s in Mechanical Engineering, preferably including automation
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant Australian post-grad experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) status or working towards obtaining registered status in the next 3-6 months
  • Be forward thinking, with the ability to efficiently complete scheduled tasks
  • Excellent analytical skills, computer literacy and proficiency in both verbal and written communication
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as part of the role

The first role is within the pyro metallurgical section of the engineering department where engineering experience in a smelter or pyro metallurgical industry will be an added advantage.

The second role is with the mineral processing section of the engineering department. For this role, experience in mineral processing plant and equipment design is required. Hydraulic design experience (slurries) is advantageous.
