Yancoal Australia is Australia’s largest pure play coal producer. Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell.  The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join the team at Ashton Coal. Reporting to the Undermanager, your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising the installation, commissioning, maintenance & repair of mechanical plant and equipment on site
• Completing effective maintenance and fault-finding work on mechanical systems
• Monitor mechanical equipment to ensure it remains in a safe and fit for purpose condition 

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years Underground Coal Mining Experience (Mandatory)
• Mechanical trade qualification and Certificate of Proficiency (Mandatory)
• A strong commitment to safety
• Sound analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills, both written & verbal
• Positive attitude towards and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

In addition to the above, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Tertiary qualifications in Fluid Power
• RII09 - Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance
• Hot Works training
• Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
• HRWL - Dogging
