We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Fitter - Hydro SX, reporting to the Supervisor, Surface Mechanical Maintenance Execution.
The Challenge Ahead
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Surface Mechanical Maintenance team at Olympic Dam. Working within the Hydromet and Solvent Extraction (Hydro SX) operations, you will play a key role in delivering both planned and breakdown maintenance activities to support safe, reliable and efficient plant performance.
Working closely with Maintenance and Production teams, you will contribute to maintaining critical assets, improving equipment reliability and supporting operational excellence across the Hydro SX area.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Minimum Australian recognised trade level qualifications within a mechanical discipline
- Sound computer skills and ideally have exposure to SAP
- Experience in technical fault finding and continuous improvement activities
- Exposure to hazardous area environment would be preferred
- Understanding of Quality Assurance and current WHS legislation
- Previous shift work experience would be preferred
- Proactive people management skills and leadership abilities
Key Responsibilities
- Safely perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance activities across the Hydromet and Solvent Extraction operations
- Follow established standards, procedures and safety requirements to achieve maintenance objectives
- Provide mechanical trade expertise to support equipment reliability and plant performance
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams to identify, escalate and resolve equipment issues
- Provide regular feedback to supervisors regarding maintenance progress, risks and priorities
- Contribute to a strong culture of safety, accountability and teamwork
- Support operational excellence through effective communication and collaboration
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment in line with BHP standards
