Mechanical Fitter - R&D Workshop
Work location: Dawson Rd., Perth Airport
Roster: Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
- Demonstrate high quality and safety along with continuous improvement practices
- Construct and assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform leak and pressure testing
- Interpreting P&IDs and CAD assembly drawings to ensure the accuracy in each project
- Cutting, welding, and fabrication of brackets or jigs as required
- Operation of both CNC router and fibre laser cutters (Training provided)
- Diagnosing and fault-finding issues during the testing and evaluation of prototypes
- Assist in the upgrade and fabrication of equipment and facilities, and other related job duties to the development of an advanced fabrication shop
- Carry out planned and routine workshop activities
- Use MS Teams to monitor, track and close out work orders
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Ensure Australian Standard installation compliance in all site works undertaken
- Demonstrate a commitment to zero harm by following health and safety procedures, protocols, and initiatives
Qualifications and skills required:
- Trade qualified: Mechanical fitter, Fitter & Turner or Multi Skilled Fitter with diploma of engineering
- Significant background in high end mechanical fitting including experience with pneumatics, machining and basic hydraulics
- Experience with building or maintaining gas skid assemblies would be desired as well as a solid understanding of medium pressure tubing, valves, and instrumentation
- Experience with fabrication, assembly and testing of prototype equipment/devices is preferable
- Must be adaptable to regular changes associated with constant product development
- Skilled understanding and interpretation of P&ID’s
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication skills to develop relationships with a broad range of people
- Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with mechanical design, installation, and testing, preferably in hazardous environments
- An ability to listen and identify key issues and to communicate complex information clearly
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision to set up processes and monitor own work achievements against agreed objectives
- A solid background in either Oil & Gas or Sub Sea mechanical fitting (preferable)
- Robotics and automation (preferable)
- Piping, valves, instrumentation, pneumatics and hydraulics (preferable)
- CAD design or drafting experience (preferable)
- Welding skills in both Mig and Tig (preferable)
- Machining experience, CNC or manual milling (preferable)
- Detailed knowledge of nitrogen purge panel assemblies including Coriolis flowmeters and high precision instrumentation (preferable)
- Forklift HRWL (preferable)
- Dogging or Rigging (preferable)
