About the Role

This opportunity is being offered on a residential basis in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of NSW. BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal is the largest individual coal production site in the region. Located less than 5 kilometres from Muswellbrook, NSW we produce high quality, clean energy coal for international and domestic customers. We are currently seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters (Fixed Plant) for various roles and shifts across our Mt Arthur Coal operations at Muswellbrook. Reporting to the CHPP Maintenance Supervisor you will use your technical skills and experience to complete planned and breakdown maintenance activities. You will be a focused team player that is able to build effective working relationships across all levels and areas of the operation.

In this role you will:

•    Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day •    Perform planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance  •    Develop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and rectified efficiently •    Provide continual feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor on job progress •    Engage in Safety initiatives, identify and report on any unsafe equipment •    Perform Maintenance work as per weekly schedule and during full plant outages •    Create accurate notifications from mechanical inspections •    Contribute to the development of Maintenance Procedures •    Maintain tools and equipment as well as a high level of housekeeping in all work areas •    Assist with developing scopes of work, Task Hazard Analysis (THA’s) and creation of breakdown work orders

About You

•    Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way •    Australian recognised Mechanical Trade qualification (essential) •    Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience (desirable) •    Basic Rigger and Forklift licence, preferred but not essential •    Crane, loader and backhoe tickets, preferred but not essential •    Previous experience in operational maintenance environments highly desirable  •    Ability to work and communicate effectively with Operations, Planning and other related personnel •    Proven ability to execute planned and unplanned maintenance tasks  •    Proficient in the use of 1SAP or similar, preferred but not essential
