About the Role

BHP is currently looking to connect with passionate maintenance tradespeople looking to join our world-class maintenance teams either now or in the near future.

Nickel West Asset- Western Australia Locations

A member of the BHP Group, Nickel West is undergoing an exciting business transformation to become a globally significant supplier of battery materials to the electric vehicle market. Nickel West will soon become the world’s largest producer of Nickel Sulphate, a key ingredient in lithium-ion batteries. As the world’s largest producer of nickel briquettes and nickel powder, Nickel West is leading the new-energy revolution in Western Australia.

Cliffs & Mt Keith Site:

Cliffs is located approximately 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Cliffs underground Nickel Mine is an integral part of Nickel West Leinster comprising of a nickel concentrator and dryer, located 12 kilometres south of Nickel West Mt Keith. Employees at Cliffs reside at the Mt Keith village,  some of the amenities at your disposal include internet connection, outdoor swimming pool, health and fitness equipment, indoor cricket, basketball court, BBQ areas plus and arrange of social activities.

Leinster Site:

Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.

Nickel West Kwinana: Located 30 kilometres south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder.  While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region is a thriving coastal township with three public beaches, excellent schools and modern shopping facilities.

About You

Ideally you will meet the following criteria:

• Hold an Australian or equivalent trade certificate in mechanical fitting or similar
• Experience working in a maintenance role in mining, heavy industry, aviation, construction, agriculture, manufacturing or a transferable industry
• Previous experience working as a fixed plant fitter in mining or similar environment
• Relevant experience performing preventive maintenance, repairs and fault finding 
• A commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure;  
• The ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure; 
• A strong desire to learn and a high level of enthusiasm to develop a range of new skills; 
• A desire to achieve results through great teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-skilled team
