ABOUT IMC

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium-quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent Full-Time position based at the Appin mine, which is near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

As the Mechanical Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and executing maintenance activities at Appin mine. Your role will be to ensure the Mechanical team for your relevant process area (Longwall, Development, Outbye, or Mobile Fleet) is set-up for success against business priorities and the seamless safe delivery of maintenance and engineering activities.

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, you will be supported in your efforts in continually seeking to improve our maintenance practices & equipment performance across the operation.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Lead and monitor the safe planning and execution of maintenance activities for relevant area
• Technical expert for Mechanical Maintenance activities, providing technical support for trades and supervisors
• Contribute to forecasting and scheduling of maintenance activities and projects
• Review work execution performance with team members, identify gaps and take corrective action as necessary to improve performance
• Complete daily and weekly reviews of area performance for maintenance activities and equipment performance

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience working in similar role within mining or heavy industry (underground coal preferable)
• Experience with SAP work management (desirable)
• Demonstrated ability to contribute, influence and make decisions within multi-functional teams

Qualifications for this position are:

• Trade Certificate, Degree, or Associate Diploma in a relevant Mechanical Engineering field
