ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving equipment availability with safe, cost-effective strategies, defect elimination, and maintenance support.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Develop and optimise asset management plans
• Lead fault-finding investigations and implement defect elimination solutions
• Review and optimise current maintenance strategies
• Develop and implement engineering solutions
• Provide technical expertise to support safe and effective maintenance execution

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Mechanical maintenance engineering in mining processing plants
• Asset management, fault-finding and implementing improvement strategies
• Reliability-centered maintenance & preventative maintenance strategies
• Root Cause Analysis for fixed plant equipment
• Bulk materials handling equipment & concentrator systems

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience in associated Engineering discipline
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) – highly regarded.
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
