ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential on Groote Eylandt considered.

As the Fixed Plant Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering engineering solutions, maintenance strategies, and defect elimination activities that will maintain compliance, improve operating performance and availability to ensure reliable and safe operations of GEMCO’s assets.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Identify and plan engineering works with consideration to requirements, budgets, and priorities
• Data acquisition and analysis to identify, prioritise and implement improvement opportunities
• Undertake complex fault-finding and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations into equipment defects and implement defect elimination countermeasures 
• Develop and optimise long-term asset management plans & asset maintenance strategies

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience in reliability centred maintenance within Mining or Heavy Industry and Fixed Plant assets
• Monitoring and analysis of asset performance, and identification of opportunities for increased availability, reliability, and asset utilisation
• Proficient in the use of data, data interrogation and interpretation of standards to guide decision making
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills with specific experience in root cause analyses

Qualifications for this position are:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Current C Class Licence
