About the Role

We are currently inviting applications for Underground Maintenance Technicians – Mine Fixed Plant. In this position you will help minimise the impact to unplanned downtime and also work on planned day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the materials handling system.

This role is part of a diverse team who maintains the Underground Rail Haulage System and associated equipment at Olympic Dam, along with maintaining the mines dewatering, refuelling and water supply infrastructure. It will involve planned inspections and responding to callouts to assist with the operation & maintenance of this equipment.

This role is offered on a 7/7 rotating day/night roster, either FIFO from Adelaide, DIDO from regional SA locations or BIBO from the local town of Roxby Downs.

In this role you will:

  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Provide safe operational skills to perform unplanned or breakdown maintenance in accordance to current processes
  • Complete inspections of materials handling systems and belts
  • Assist where required in the permit to work system, including helping update documents relating to specific tasks.
  • Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress

About You

  • Transferrable Trade Qualifications
  • Experience with Ore Handling Processes
  • Surface and/or underground mining experience highly regarded
  • Rigger, Dogger, Crane, FL and Bridge & Gantry tickets also advantageous
  • Solid time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • A proactive team player who is also self-motivated and able to work effectively unsupervised
  • Ability to communicate well across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
