Mechanical Project Specialist

Work Location: Hedland Operations - Port. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people

Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth or 4D/3R Residential

A fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Project Specialist to join our engineering projects team to assist in a growing project portfolio, geared towards improving production and reliability. Ideally you will be driven and passionate about your work, able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of your comfort zone.

Reporting to the Engineering Project Supervisor, you will act as a project lead on multiple projects valued between $5-10 million. You will be responsible for managing contractor teams to deliver projects including plant upgrades, general maintenance and capital projects related to maintenance changeout of fixed plant equipment.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate various mechanical projects within the port project portfolio.
  • Capable of prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements.
  • Provide guidance regarding project budget, cashflow and schedule for existing and future projects.
  • Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on technical aspects of projects.
  • Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Experience in a capital projects environment.
  • Mechanical engineering degree or Mechanical trade background.
  • Experience with SAP work management.
  • Experience in preparing detailed scope of works.
  • Experience with contractor engagement and contractor management process.
  • Results driven, responsible and accountable.
