About the role

Join Rio Tinto’s Utilities team to provide safety and technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to a team of mechanical maintainers carrying out inspections, scheduled maintenance, breakdown maintenance and project upgrades to Utilities Assets including but not limited to:

  • Hydrocarbon infrastructure

  • Waste water infrastructure

  • Potable water, treatment and conveyancing infrastructure

  • Compressed air systems

Reporting to the Superintendent, this role will be offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster. We have various locations available. Your focus and duties will consist of :

  • Ensuring that maintenance is of a high quality and re-work is not required

  • Planning daily work, utilising team strengths

  • Use SAP to raise and approve notifications, maintain team capacities and ensure maintenance activity information is updated

  • Work with the Asset Management team supporting projects.

  • Providing support and advice to contractor supervisors and company representatives to effectively manage contractors Health and Safety compliance

  • Supporting all aspects of HSEQ in East Pilbara through compliance, auditing, education and management of the HSEQ System

  • Implement Contractor Management System steps

  • Review and approve weekly scheduled plans

  • Previous experience in performance management, incident investigations and safety leadership

  • Proven ability in leading a safe, cost effective and high achieving team to meet operational requirements

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

  • Understanding of RTIO HSEQ safety systems

  • Mechanical Trade qualification

  • Western Australian C class driver’s licence

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and SAP

  • Contractor management supervision 

  • Stakeholder and customer focussed with a collaborative approach.

  • Western Australian Heavy Rigid driver’s licence (desirable)

  • High Risk Work Licences in LF, WP, CV, DG, RG, C6 (desirable)

  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver's License (Manual)

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
