Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster day or night shift, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Mechanical Supervisor – Fixed Plant, you will direct and lead the Maintenance Technicians in the safe execution of the planned and breakdown works to ensure the reliability and availability of production systems. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Contribute to achieving GEMCO HSE outcomes through effective leadership, role modelling appropriate workplace behaviours, setting, and maintaining the standard for the crew
• Working closely with the planning and scheduling teams to develop and ensure delivery of efficient scope of work aligned with available resources
• Ensure compliance to the work management process for work execution
• Actively identify and implement opportunities for improvements

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience in a similar role with a demonstrated capability to successfully lead, influence and performance manage a team
• Hydraulic and Pneumatic experience
• Structural fabrication knowledge
• Flexibility with work hours to assist operation with large scale shutdowns

Qualifications for this position are:

• Mechanical trade/engineering qualifications.
