Supervisor Mechanical – Green Energy Hub
Work Location: Christmas Creek -Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or Busselton
Position overview
This position is responsible to lead the Green Energy Hub mechanical team to safely operate and maintain the hydrogen gas plant, hydrogen liquid plant and Heavy Equipment battery charger. These are flagship facilities currently under construction and which have high visibility within the FMG business and industry. This position will actively champion business improvement initiatives to optimise the Green Energy Hub activities, create efficiencies for execution, stabilize reliable gas production and promote a high safety standard. |
Key responsibilities include:
- Relevant experience in hydrogen gas production, mining or related heavy industry
- Experience with operations / maintenance of high pressure gas plants within hazardous areas
- Refuelling of medium and heavy mobile equipment
- Strong understanding of compressors, water supply / treatment systems, high pressure gas pipelines, valves, high pressure gas storage vessels, chiller units, classified plant and gas dispensing / refuelling equipment
- Knowledge of control systems, plc’s and instrumentation highly regarded
- Knowledge of gas detection, thermal camera, fire suppression or similar safety systems as appropriate for hydrogen gas facilities
- Experience in developing isolation matrix for hazardous area plants and leading complex isolations
- Development of maintenance tactics related to support reliability of mechanical infrastructure
- Planning of major maintenance to meet compliance
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant trade (Mechanical / High Pressure Gas) with significant experience in Plant operations
- Current West Australian P class High Pressure Gas License highly regarded
- Senior first aid / CPR
- WA Class C Driver’s Licence
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills; including report writing
- Ability to time manage, organise & prioritise workload
- Competent in reading technical manuals/plans/schematics
- Sound problem solving skills
