About the Role 

We currently have permanent opportunities available for experienced locomotive mechanical maintenance professionals to join our Rail team in Port Hedland! We have FIFO and residential roles available - both are on even-time rosters! 

FIFO roster from Perth to Port Hedland: 7 days on, 7 nights on, 14 days off  Residential roster: 4 days on, 4 nights on, 8 days off 

Your duties will include:

  • Ensuring behaviour aligns with the BHP Charter Values, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • An overriding commitment to Health, Safety and Environment within Rail                                           
  • Contributing to an inclusive and diverse culture
  • Adherence to Work Management principles and discipline
  • Maintaining Standardised Work processes and driving Standardised Work improvements in Locomotive Maintenance
  • Contributing to Continuous Improvement in Locomotive Maintenance
  • Contribute to high fleet availability through routine maintenance, focused on quality work and a defect elimination mindset 
  • Strong commitment to the Field Leadership

About You  As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Australian recognized mechanical trade qualification - essential
  • Locomotive or heavy diesel maintenance experience  - desirable
  • Current unrestricted West Australian ‘C’ class license - essential
  • Strong safety skills and history of Field Leadership participation
  • Be process driven
  • Ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in managing risk e.g. JHA’s, Take 5‘s
  • An energetic and enthusiastic approach to work, with a drive to develop and learn
  • Ability to problem solve and react to unplanned situations in a controlled manner
  • A teamwork mentality to achieve results
