We are now seeking Expressions of Interest for Mechanical Technicians - Shutdown to join the Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Team. 

Reporting to the Specialist Mechanical Shutdown, you will be responsible for assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance of all Surface Fixed Plant equipment, including in general plant maintenance, shutdowns, fault-finding, maintenance strategy optimisation and project work.

Key responsibilities 

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment by performing Safe Work execution utilising Newcrest’s Critical Control Management framework and embedding our NewSafe Behaviours into your activities to achieve our goal of zero fatalities or life altering injuries

  • Lead contractor partners in safe work execution 

  • Willingness to learn and be a part of a team 

  • Performing maintenance on crushers, conveyor systems, grinding mills, gravity circuits, vibrating screens, dewatering systems, dust collectors, ventilation systems, chilling plants, pumps and more

  • Monitoring and reporting on status of equipment 

  • Assist with shutdown, co-ordination and execution

  • Work in a diverse and inclusive environment to help achieve Cadia’s vision for decades to come

 Skills and experience 

  • Experience in Fixed Plant Mining (Crushing, Grinding, Conveying & Processing) skills 

  • The ability to identify major hazards within assigned tasks and implement the correct critical controls prior to starting any work 

  • Basic computer skills and experience with SAP or similar system would be advantageous 

  • Behaviour consistent with Newcrest values 

  • Leadership ability with demonstrated previous supervisory experience 

  • Well-developed communication and influencing skills 

  • Able to work under pressure and deliver against deadlines 

  • Strong analytical ability 

  • A working knowledge of mining, minerals processing and maintenance processes
