Ashton - Owned by Yancoal, Ashton is an underground mine and coal handling preparation plant located in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of NSW.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Technicians to join our team at Ashton Coal Operation.

Applicants must have a commitment to working safely with a focus on maintaining the high standards at the mine. Reporting to the Undermanager, some responsibilities will include;

• Supervise the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of mechanical plant at the mine
• Conduct effective maintenance and fault-finding work on mechanical systems
• Monitor mechanical equipment to ensure it remains in a safe and fit for purpose condition.

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria:

• Certificate of proficiency in a mechanical trade
• Minimum 2 years' underground coal mining experience, experience working in longwall operations is highly advantageous
• Proven commitment to safety
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills

The following qualifications are highly desirable

• Teritary qualification in Fluid Power
• RII09 - Explosion protected diesel engine systems maintenance skill set
• Hot works training
• Working at heights and confined space access training
• HRWL - dogging
