ABOUT CANNINGTON
Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Townsville/Brisbane/Cairns or DIDO from Mount Isa to Cannington. The role is mainly day shift but night shift will be required during peak work times.
As Mechanical Tradesperson - Projects, you will work within the Projects team supported by a supervisor to repair and replace structural elements of the plant.
You will be working through all areas of the surface plant and at times if required underground also. Work will involve cranes, rigging, scaffolding and EWPs utilising a team of Boilermakers and Fitters to perform the work.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- This role will be a 2IC to the Structural Supervisor and will be expected to step up to run the crew when the supervisor is absent.
- Ensure work fronts are conducted safely by competent personnel in accordance with the relevant standards and operating procedures.
- Plan and allocate labour and equipment resources to effectively execute all work activities.
- Scope future works and provide input into constructability reviews etc with the Engineering and Project Team.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Previous experience at Trade level with a demonstrated capability to perform work of similar scope.
- Demonstrated experience in safe work culture and fostering improvements in the workplace.
- Knowledge and experience in weld procedures and Structural ITP’s along with the ability to read structural drawings.
- Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Suit including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
- Experience in running projects or crews in similar work environments through mining or heavy industry.
- The ability to work independently and continuously drive improvement in work processes.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Relevant and recognised Mechanical trade qualification.
- First Aid/CPR Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
- QMS 1,2,3 or the ability to obtain.
- Scaffolding, Rigging, Crane or other HRWL highly regarded.
