About the role

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Weekend Coordinator to join the teams at the Appin Mine, reporting to the weekend Superintendent Operations.

You will be responsible for delivering the mechanical operational performance of the mine by executing the weekend plan and responding to variances in the plan.

Key accountabilities include:

• Ensure continuation of the weekend portion of the Weekly Plan, including maintenance schedule compliance
• Responsible for any planned major works, including the planning of maintenance day activities, as part of delivering the Weekly Plan
• Producing and maintaining the Daily and Shift Area Maintenance Plans in support of the Weekly Plan
• Ensuring conflicts are resolved and mine priorities enacted
• Planning and progressing work orders through the work management system/SAP to allow for work to be scheduled and executed
• Leading and managing the weekend maintenance team
• Investigating and responding to events at the mine
• Ordering materials and organising contractors to allow for work to progress and be executed; while leveraging the South32 Supply Function

About you

• Trade Certificate, Degree or Associate Diploma in relevant Mechanical Engineering field
• Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the business
• Significant experience working in underground mining, preferably coal
• Demonstrated ability to select, develop, coach and mentor employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity, and organisational capability

Location

This position will be based at the Appin Mine, which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south of Sydney.
