Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s latest greenfields project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Metallurgical Technician

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth

Reporting to Senior Plant Metallurgist and working within the Metallurgy team at Iron Bridge Magnetite Ore Process Facility, the main responsibilities of the role will be to maintain all sample stations, online analysers and performing metallurgical test works.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Carry out laboratory tests in a safe manner while maintaining high quality standards and meeting production targets
  • Maintaining the operability and accuracy of the all sampling stations and online analysers such as PSI300/500, Courier 6XL, Belt Magnasat, Belt Moisture meter, Belt Particle Size Analyzer
  • Contribute to the laboratory operations through continuous improvement and innovation
  • Accurately and safely perform a wide range of metallurgical test work on magnetite iron ore samples, plant surveys, and plant trial in a timely manner

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Ideally 1-2 years’ relevant experience as a Metallurgical Technician
  • Sound knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and representative sampling
  • Sound knowledge of pilot scale mineral processing test work and equipment
  • Sound knowledge of online analysers for assaying and grind size such as PSI and Courier XL
  • High level of accuracy when collecting, recording, and maintaining data and relevant documentation
  • Look for and take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills and develop strengths
  • A proven commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Clearly explain concepts and techniques to individuals and groups
  • Identify ways to improve systems or processes
