Metallurgist

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday (9-month secondment)

This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with strong site-based experience to add significant value to our Perth-based Strategic Planning Metallurgical function.

You will be joining a passionate, driven and agile technical team who delve into all aspects of materials science, metallurgical engineering, ore processing performance and provide metallurgical product prediction to mine planning horizons i.e. LOM/5YP/2YP.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review short and long term OPF performance against plan assumptions/ regression predictions
  • Coordinate 6” drilling along with 6” gap assessment on mine plans and data analysis of testwork results to improve ore body knowledge
  • Analysis to investigate relationships between key metrics and ore properties
  • Validate the regressions against OPF performance

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy/Mineral processing/Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a Metallurgy/Process Engineering role within Iron Ore business
  • Excellent communication skills with strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs
  • Enthusiastic and ‘can-do’ mind set with ability to manage changing priorities
